To Bean or not to Bean
Bean farming was never so much fun! In Bohnanza, you have two or three bean fields and a handful of bean cards to plant in those fields. When you sell beans, you earn more for growing more of any one variety than a few of several. Thus, you want to plant as many of your favorites as you can. But you must plant the beans in your hand in the order you got them. To get rid of the beans you don't want to plant, you trade them to other players for those you want. With clever trading, you get the cards you want without helping the other players too much. In the end, the player who earns the most gold is the winner!
This already expanded game has 11 bean varieties: enough for 7 players, but it also has rules for as few as two.
Now everyone can be a successful bean farmer |

The other reviews pretty much said it all. This is an extremely fun and addictive game. I love the trading and the strategy behind the game. this is also another game we've played with my parents, and they've picked it up pretty well and had fun with it. I do have one complaint / warning though, since I'm big on 2 player games. I don't find this game as fun with 2 players. I find this game is best with 4 or more players, because then there are more trading options and bartering back and forth. As a game for 4 or more players, I rate this game a 5.

Bohnanza, or as those who played the original German version call it: “The Bean Game”, is a fun little game where each player is a bean farmer. Played with cards, each player has cards in their hand representing different types of beans. You have two bean fields. Each field can hold only one type of bean card, but as many cards of that type as you can fit. In an interesting twist, the cards in your hand are kept in the order they are drawn, since, at the start of your turn, you plant the bean card (or two) from your hand that have been in your hand the longest. If that means you have to get rid of beans in one of your two fields to plant the new type, so be it. You also have to reveal two ca

I love explaining the rules of this game because it is so different than what people are used to. "DON"T Rearrange your hand. Draw from your front card only. You can trade the other cards but then you DON'T put the cards back in your hand, you play them in front of you in your bean fields!" OK, for a pretty simple game it can take people a while to catch on. Once they catch on, they tend to keep playing and playing. This is another game that rates highly because it is addicting and accessible to many age groups...high schoolers, family members and friends have all enjoyed the game. This is a good (and cheap) card game for the family...that does get repetitive. I'm ready to move onto other ga

Ok....for me this game is a '3', but for the rest of my group it's a '5', so I'm splitting the difference and giving this a '4'. More than likely you'll be in the '5' group. Highly interactive which means everyone is constanty involved in the play...which is the game's secret. I find the repetitive play tedious, and that the game rewards you for exploring every possible trade which brings the game to a screeching halt. Therefore I have to consciously throttle my competitive game persona way down and "go with the flow." When I'm able to do that, I have a grand time with this game. Othertimes, I'm just not able to tone it down and I get frustrated with the trading mechanism. This isn't really

For those of you who have never played a 'German' game of any sort, but want something a bit different from what your used to, but easily accessible and highly replayable, this is the game for you. Since I bought this game and showed it to my non-gaming friends, I have had 8 copies of this pass through my hands.
Gameplay has a small learning curve as players learn what to do in each of the 4 phases, but it is all very simple, and once players have learned it, this gamef lies. What makes it so interesting is that it is a very social trading game where players must help each other or no one will get anywhere. This encourages a lot of mutually beneficial deals.
This game is great 3-7 play
